POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of assault after officers were called to a railway station.
Rail users reported seeing police called to a train on Saturday night (November 16) at Liverpool Lime Street station, which was due to travel through St Helens.
It is understood officers got on to the scheduled 9.15pm train from Liverpool Lime Street to Blackpool North, and arrested a man.
The service's route includes stops at Prescot, Eccleston Park, Thatto Heath, St Helens Central and Garswood.
Police confirmed that a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, and of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to Liverpool Lime Street station at 9.15pm on Saturday, November 16, following reports of an assault.
"Officers attended and a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
"He was later further arrested (on suspicion of) two counts of assaulting an emergency worker."
