THE family of a missing man whose body has been found have thanked the people of St Helens for coming together to help in the search for him. 

Police confirmed that a body had been found on Sunday in the search for missing man Dennis Wyatt.

An emergency services presence was seen in the area of Boardmans Lane, in Blackbrook, on Sunday, November 10.

When asked about this, a police spokesman confirmed that during investigations into the disappearance of 66-year-old Dennis Wyatt, a body of a man was found.

At around 10.25am yesterday, Sunday, November 10, a member of the public had found a body in woodland off Boardmans Lane.

Mr Wyatt had been reported as missing from home since Sunday, November 3, where he was last seen on Park Road in Parr.

Many people in the town had circulated missing person appeals on social media and had helped look for Dennis after he had gone missing.

Dennis' family are being supported by police officers.

On the Star's Facebook page, a message from Dennis' family was posted on their behalf thanking the people of St Helens for their efforts in searching for Dennis while he was missing.

This read: "The family and close ones of Dennis Wyatt would like to thank everyone who has helped in he’s search over this past week in trying to find him. Dennis was sadly found deceased Sunday 10th November.

"Thanking all Family, Friends, Neighbours, Police, and strangers who have even helped to search. Thank you St Helens for coming together and doing him proud.  xx".

It added: "Thank you to each and everyone of you can I please ask that we now give the family the privacy at such a sad time".
