A modern food brand brought a community together for Diwali celebrations.
Mama Sood’s, which launched on May 1, 2023, is a food brand that aims to revamp the traditional image of chutneys in the UK.
On November 3, Mama Sood's hosted a lively Diwali celebration at Ruskin Sports Village in St Helens.
The brand was established by a mother and son duo, Paalan and Neetu, who were inspired by Neetu's cooking and saw an opportunity to fill a niche in the market.
Filled with food, festivities, and fireworks, the night saw more than 120 people attend.
The event also featured music from a live DJ and a charity raffle, with all proceeds going to the Lord Rama Krishna Temple, which is in urgent need of repairs.
A total of £1,001 was raised in prizes donated mainly from businesses in the Liverpool City Region.
Mama Sood's has been steadily growing in popularity over the past year, particularly on TikTok, where they have amassed more than 11,000 followers and 200,000 likes.
Some of their videos have even reached more than 500,000 views.
This online success attracted many attendees to the Diwali celebration who were eager to experience Mama Sood's flavours first-hand.
The event was such a success that it is expected to become an annual tradition in St Helens.
Paalan said: "Diwali means a lot to us, so it's a great feeling to share the celebrations with our community.
"It's all about bringing light, positivity, and hope to people, and we're thrilled everyone had a blast.
"We can't wait to do the same next year."
