An interactive Latin American musical cooking show is set to entertain St Helens.
Súper Chefs, directed by Maya Productions' artistic director Suzanne Gorman, will be at Wonder Arts on Dentons Green Lane on Saturday, November 2.
This bilingual, immersive show invites young audiences to explore Latin American culture while celebrating family, food, and togetherness.
With an original score by Ariel Cubría, the show features a six-year-old boy named Manny as he prepares a welcome-home meal for his dad, Tony.
Manny's professional chef mother, Valeria, his traditional grandmother, Alma, and his superheroine sidekick, Mighty Mujer, all pitch in.
However, when kitchen chaos ensues, Manny must prove that he can be both a chef and a superhero.
Súper Chefs incorporates music, dance, and real-life cooking on stage, encouraging the audience to help prepare Colombian arepas and Mexican guacamole.
Through this culinary journey, the production imparts lessons on family values, teamwork, and cultural heritage.
The show also opens up discussions about gender roles in the kitchen.
Despite society's traditional views of cooking tasks being associated with women, Súper Chefs advocates for equal participation from all family members in the kitchen.
The production presents an authentic portrayal of Latin American culture, introducing audiences to the richness of Spanglish, Latin rhythms, and the significance of food in binding families together.
Súper Chefs offers a unique opportunity for audiences to see Latin American stories in the UK theatre scene.
The show aims to inspire and encourage young people to discover the joy of cooking and sharing in the family home.
With its catchy songs and engaging theme, Súper Chefs promises to deliver an enriching experience for families, fostering a sense of togetherness and cultural appreciation.
Tickets for the event can be purchased via the Wonder Arts website.
