A 13-YEAR-OLD who was rushed to hospital with horrific burns is still experiencing nightmares from the ordeal - but has been comforted by the huge response from the community.
As reported by the Star, Alyssia-Rae Yates suffered serious burns on Blackbrook playing fields after a boy allegedly threw a lighter into a fire and kicked the flames towards her.
After being rushed to the burns unit at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, it has been a tough few weeks for Alyssia as she has suffered with lingering pain and nightmares since the alleged attack.
However, with an outpouring of support from family, friends, teammates, and the wider community, Alyssia's mum said that she can now "see the future a bit brighter".

With Alyssia visiting Alder Hey Children's Hospital every couple of days to assess her injuries, which may be lifelong, she has been comforted by the countless well wishes as she continues on her path to recovery.
As the fire incident ruined the teen's favourite shorts and trainers, an online fundraiser also raised almost £300 for the 13-year-old, while small business owners have also been in touch to donate sweet baskets and trainers to support the teenager.
With the brave and resilient teen desperate to get back to her normal self and get back on the rugby field, her mum Laura said that these donations and messages of support have helped massively with the teenager's recovery.
Laura, who has publicised the incident to warn others of the dangers of fire, said: "Thank you each and everyone for your donations towards a treat for Alyssia. Any further donations will be presented to Alder Hey Burns Unit after her rugby presentation next month.
"[There are] too many offers and words of kindness to mention individually. I'm proud of my town and how we come together.
"Alyssia can see the future a bit brighter and your positivity has touched us both massively. Thank you St Helens."
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed that enquiries are still ongoing into the incident.
