A STRETCH of the East Lancs Road has reopened after a closure on Monday morning due to a police incident.
Motorists were warned the dual-carriageway was shut both ways from City Road to Windle Island.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported the closure was in place at 7am. Residents were reporting disruption since shortly after 5am.
At 7.30am Inrix reported the police incident was over and the road had reopened.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed the incident related to concerns for the safety of a man.
Patrols spoke to the man and he has been taken to hospital.
Appeal for wtinesses
Police, meanwhile, are continuing to appeal for information following the death of a man who fell from a bridge on the East Lancs on Friday afternoon.
A police spokesperson said: “If you witnessed this incident or have any information, please contact @MerPolCC or 101 with reference 445 of Friday 25 October.”
