A FOUR-WAY traffic signal has been installed around a busy junction in Newton-le-Willows.
Residents reported seeing traffic signals and temporary lights around Crow Lane East in the early hours of Thursday, October 24.
The four way traffic signal has been installed around the junction with Crow Lane East, Water Street, Victoria Road, and Borron Road in Newton-le-Willows.
The Cadent Gas website, which publishes information about the country's roadworks, states that United Utilities have installed the traffic signals.
The activity is linked to utility repair and maintenance works, with the roadworks set to be in place between Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25.

These roadworks add to the works currently placed on Crow Lane West in Newton, which have been in place since Monday, October 21 until Wednesday, October 30, due to highway repair and maintenance works from St Helens Council.
Further roadworks and temporary lights installed around Crow Lane West in Newton, from 9.15am on Tuesday, October 29 until 3.30pm Wednesday, October 30. These roadworks, from Swan Road to Lyme Street, will be in place as St Helens Council intends to carry out repairs of road and carriageway markings.
There are further roadworks planned on Mercer Street in Newton-le-Willows, from 8am on Monday, October 28 until midnight on Saturday, November 2. These roadworks will include a diversion and are in place as St Helens Council intends to carry out highway repair and maintenance works.
A few weeks down the line, there will also be a road closure on Borron Road in Newton, on Monday, December 16.
Electricity North West will install these works to carry out utility repair and maintenance works, with a diversion route to be in place.
