A FESTIVE light show is set to return to a cathedral for a third year.
The Light Before Christmas: Starlight, an immersive light and sound event, will light up Liverpool Cathedral from November 29 to December 7, following two years of sold-out success.
The Luxmuralis team, renowned internationally for their work, will create a new sensory experience for the thousands expected to attend.
Peter Walker, sculptor and creative director of Luxmuralis, said: "We are delighted to return to create our third Christmas light show in the Cathedral.
"The partnership we have together helps us create one of the largest immersive experiences anywhere in the world, and to welcome tens of thousands of visitors."
"Starlight will bring the cathedral to life with light and sound art on an epic scale, and will be a wonderful experience for families and people of all ages."
The cathedral's historic architecture will serve as a canvas for the visual journey, inviting attendees to follow the star and experience the Nativity story from a fresh perspective.
Projections and soundscapes will transform the cathedral’s interior into a luminous wonderland.
The Very Revd Dr Sue Jones, Dean of Liverpool, said: "We are delighted to see the return of the Light Before Christmas for its third year.
"We know how it has become a Christmas tradition for so many families, so we asked Luxmuralis to return with a brand new story to celebrate our centenary year."
This year, an extra Saturday has been added to the schedule in response to last year's demand.
The Welsford Bistro will offer a festive Christmas market-style menu, adding to the holiday spirit.
Alissa Koopal, the cathedral's newly appointed director of enterprise, said: "We are delighted to continue to team up with the incredibly talented artists at Luxmuralis, to produce another year of the much-anticipated Light before Christmas show.
"The 2024 edition Starlight allows audiences from near and far the unique experience to explore Liverpool Cathedral and the Nativity story in a way like no other.
"And we are so pleased that this unique immersive experience has become a true highlight in so many people's Christmas celebrations."
Tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
