A GROUP of compassionate youngsters cycled around Taylor Park for 20km in aid of Zoe's Place over the weekend.

In recent weeks, a huge campaign has been launched to try and save Zoe's Place in Liverpool.

Specialising in end-of-life care for babies and young children with life-limiting conditions, the Merseyside hospice needs to raise £5m for a new facility after its current lease was not renewed.

With Thatto Heath rugby club instilling a charitable attitude in many of its players, due to the various fundraisers the club has hosted over the years, this inspired four of the club's under 12s players to do their bit to try and save Zoe's Place.

Speaking about their efforts, Jack's granddad Danny Wyoming, from Bold, said: "It is a real community club at Thatto Heath, which is well known for its charity events, so I think this has rubbed off on a lot of the players.

"After hearing about all the stories about Zoe's Place, the lads were all encouraged to do something to help.

"They were all a bit sore this morning but they're really proud of themselves, and so are we as they came up with this idea themselves."

The youngster's bike ride hasn't been the only efforts in St Helens trying to try and save Zoe's Place, with St Helens Theatre Royal announcing a special performance of Sleeping Beauty on October 29.

Thatto Heath Labour Club has also hosted a raffle on October 18, with another one planned on October 25 to raise cash for the hospice.
