A KEY route of St Helens has been closed while emergency gas repair works are carried out.
Cadent says it is carrying out the works on a section of Boundary Road, near the junction with Duke Street.
The road leading out of St Helens is shut, meaning there is no access via a right turn from Duke Street or from Cowley Hill Lane and Dentons Green Lane.
The repairs began on Friday and could run until Wednesday, October 24.
It is leading to delays and disruption for motorists, particularly at peak times.
A statement on the Cadent website read: "Cadent are carrying out emergency gas repair works.
"These repairs can take time to resolve, but this is to ensure that we continue to provide the safest and most reliable service to our customers."
