A POPULAR town centre pub is hosting a special 'Oktoberfest' event today.
The Market Tavern has been a very popular boozer since landlady Michele Cooney took over the venue in April 2023.
Although Michele hadn't worked anywhere else apart from her Ellesmere Port hometown, she quickly made the Tavern her own and has created a real community after hosting various events and live music performances at the Bridge Street pub.
Aware of Michele's good work in keeping the pub busy after a tricky period for the hospitality industry, Amber Taverns have twice awarded Michele with a 'Highly Commended Operator' award, and she is continuing with the pub's event schedule this weekend.

Celebrating Bavarian beer, food, and culture, Oktoberfest has become an international celebration in recent years.
With huge celebrations taking place in Munich from late September into early October, St Helens will have its own Oktoberfest "with a twist" at the Market Tavern.
Set to take place today (Saturday, October 19), it will be a day full of "fun, games, cabaret and karaoke."
With German bottles of Erdinger and steins of Uberlegen on offer, there will be a live entertainer from 5pm, who promises "signing, dancing, fun, and games", followed by a DJ to continue the good vibes late into the night.
With customers encouraged to visit in their own Bavarian clothing or costumes, there will be prizes for the best dressed.
As Michele says, "it is going to be a day to remember".
The pub will also host a Halloween event on Saturday, November 2.
