A ST HELENS singer who wowed audiences received a gutting setback after fulfilling his dream on the Voice.
Following Matty Scott's rendition of Giveon’s Heartbreak Anniversary on the Voice's blind audition, he received a standing ovation from the crowd and will.i.am chose to take him through to the next round at the last second.
A huge fan of the talent show from an early age, the former St Cuthberts pupil said that the audition was the "best day of his life", and his performance was celebrated on social media as he proudly professed he was from a "little town called St Helens".
Taken into the next round with the former Black Eyed Peas frontman, Matty's 'call back' performance was broadcast on ITV on Saturday, October 12.

With Matty pitted against boy band MiC Lowry and girl group ESNCE, Matty was tasked to perform What You Would Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell.
Prior to the broadcasted performance, will.i.am said: "Matty Scott has this confidence [and] this experience, and you can tell he is young but he has an old soul."
Host Emma Willis also said that she loves Matty as he was singing, and will.i.am's 'AI assistant' said the 20-year-old "digs deep into that soulful territory" and boasted a "rare skill" of control.
Unfortunately, despite Matty's talented performance, MiC Lowry, ESNCE, and STORRY were the acts chosen to go through to the semi finals.
Speaking to ITV, Matty, who has been working as the entertainment on a cruise liner and has dreams of becoming a professional singer, said: "I felt like I give him all I could give so I'm proud of it.
"There were parts of it that were shaky but there's nothing I can do about that, I gave him more than I what I could.
"I am gutted, but the people who got through were unbelievable."
Before sending Matty and the rest of the acts home, will.i.am said that everyone had an "amazing performance because I felt something powerful from each one of you guys".
With another huge response for Matty's performance on social media, he posted a clip of his song on Instagram with the caption 'Over and Out'.
