A MAN has been arrested after police were called to reports of a "domestic incident" on Sunday afternoon.
Star readers reported seeing four police vehicles on Millbrook Lane, Eccleston and officers on the street.
Merseyside Police confirmed they had been called following reports of a "disturbance" at about 3.45pm.
Officers say it was a domestic incident and a man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Man in custody
In a statement, police said: "We have arrested a man following a domestic incident in Eccleston yesterday, Sunday, October 13.
"A 41-year-old man from Eccleston was arrested on suspicion of Section 39 assault and criminal damage.
"He has been taken to a police station for questioning and remains in custody at the time of writing."
One onlooker told the Star: "It was a shock to see so many police on that road during the middle of a peaceful Sunday afternoon.
"There was a police van and, another three cars I think, they looked like they'd pulled over in a hurry."
