FRIENDS and colleagues at St Helens Theatre Royal have sent their well wishes to retiring ticket box worker Brian as he leaves the venue after 19 years.

Brain Pridmore joined the St Helens Theatre Royal family in 2005 after working in other theatres across the country.

The 85-year-old, who is originally from down South but settled in Runcorn, is retiring after his lengthy career with his colleagues paying tribute to him on social media.

Chantelle Nolan at the theatre said: “Brian joined the St Helens Theatre Royal family in 2005 after an extremely successful career in theatre management across the UK with stops at White Cliffs Theatre, Hanley Theatre Royal and Queens Hall in Widnes, meeting many famous faces including the late Queen Elizabeth II.

“Wherever Brian applied his talents, success followed and he proudly remembers his contribution to the bid for the development of the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn, whilst he was theatre manager of Queens Hall.

“Brian's experience and passion for theatre inspired all of us at St Helens Theatre Royal's and audiences love his warm welcome everytime they visit the venue box office.

“In theatres across the country, box offices are changing to automated systems but our audiences prefer the personal touch and we regularly welcome customers into the box office during opening times.

“We are proud that our audience is familiar with our box office team and Brian made a very positive impact to our box office culture.

“St Helens Theatre Royal continues to grow from strength to strength and Brian's hard work is a huge part of the venue's success.

“We wish Brian all the best for the future as he sets sail, travelling around the world as well as spending many more evenings on the West End at his favourite place, the theatre.”
