A WOMAN charged with causing the death of a Pilkington worker has made a first court appearance. 

On Friday, December 1 last year, David Burrows, 59, was riding a pedal bike on Islands Brow, close to its junction with Hinckley Road, when he was struck by a vehicle and injured.
 
David was taken to hospital for treatment but died of his injuries.

Anya Foster, 32, of Gloucester Street, Parr, has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving while over the prescribed limit for two separate controlled substances.

She has also been charged with driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving over the prescribed limit for drugs, failing to stop after a collision and failing to report a collision.

Foster appeared at Liverpool, St Helens & Knowsley Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 3.  

Before district judge Wendy Lloyd, the case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court.

Foster was granted unconditional bail.

She will next appear at the Crown Court on Thursday, October 31.  

A man who was arrested in connection with the investigation was released and no further action is to be taken against him.
