A PLANNING application has been submitted asking for approval to use a four-bedroom house as a children's home.

Permission is being sought for a change of use of the property to a small children's home for three children between the ages of eight and 18.

The proposals seek permission for the home to be located at Roxboro House, on West Park Road.

A planning statement, drawn up by PHPC LLP, on behalf of applicant Greenacre Care, says: "The proposed development comprises the change of use of the property from a four-bed dwelling house to a home for three children and young persons between the ages of eight and 18."

It adds the three young people at the home "will be supported by three to four non-resident staff on a 24-hour basis".

There would be three staff present "during the daytime" with "four for short periods of time during handover sessions" and "two staff during the night-time".

Plans add: "Where the placement is a correct fit for the home the aim is to place children from the St Helens local authority area. However, there may be occasions where placements from other local authority areas may be suitable".

The home would be subject to Ofsted regulation and inspections, plans add.

In conclusion, the planning statement claims the proposal "does not have an adversely harmful impact on the amenities of the occupiers of adjacent properties through noise, traffic, privacy etc" adding "it is respectfully requested that planning permission is granted".

The application is on standard consultation to the public until Friday, October 25.

A decision is expected on the plans by November 27.
