POLICE have confirmed they were called after the body of woman was found in a house.
Emergency services were sent to an address on Wargrave Road, in Newton-le-Willows on Tuesday, October 8.
Police say they were informed by the ambulance service that a woman aged in her 70s had been found dead inside the home.
A large number of officers were at the scene on Tuesday, prompting residents to contact the Star to express concern over what had happened.
A police presence remained at the address throughout Wednesday.
However, in a statement, police said at this stage they do not believe the woman’s death to be suspicious.
Merseyside Police’s statement read: “At this stage, her death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Her next of kin has been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
