A MAN has been arrested after two teenagers were assaulted in a "completely unprovoked attack".

Police were called to Hard Lane on Monday night, October 7, at around 9pm following reports that a man had assaulted two teenagers.

Patrols attended and detained a suspect in the area.
 
A 16-year-old boy suffered facial injuries in the attack, which police say was "completely unprovoked".
 
A 29-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH); and possession of cocaine.

He was taken to a police station and has been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: "This appears to have been a completely unprovoked attack and those victims targeted will be supported as our investigation continues. 
 
“Although a man is under investigation, we're still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Princess Avenue and Hard Lane and saw or captured this incident on CCTV or other devices. We will act on all information provided."
