A CHILDREN’S home provider is celebrating a double success after an Outstanding Ofsted report and being named one of the top apprenticeship employers.

Directors of St Helens-based Nurture Support Services Neil and Linzi Tabern were delighted to receive the highest possible rating following a two-day visit from inspectors on July 9 and July 10.

The privately-owned home provides care for up to two children with social and emotional difficulties.

It was given the top grading in its latest report by Ofsted.

It was rated outstanding for all categories, including for 'Overall experiences and progress of children and young people'; 'how well children and young people are helped and protected'; and for the 'effectiveness of leaders and managers'.

Home provides 'highly effective services'

Inspectors noted: “The children’s home provides highly effective services that consistently exceed the standards of good.

“The actions of the children’s home contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people who need help, protection and care”.

It was added that: “Staff understand and respond effectively to the needs of the children and The home is a positive, nurturing and welcoming environment.

“The manager and staff use research-informed practice in a sustained way, which makes an exceptional difference to the lives of the children.”

The Ofsted report added: “Leaders and managers foster a positive team spirit among the staff. The staff feel that leaders and managers support them exceptionally well, as do their colleagues.

“Staff are involved in decision-making and feel valued for their views and contributions. Consequently, staff are dedicated and committed to their roles.”

Meanwhile, during the same week, Nurture Support Services, based on Prescot Road, was also named seventh out of the top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers in the UK.

Director Neil Tabern said: “Linzi (registered manager) and her team have worked so hard to obtain the judgement from Ofsted and the report highlights what a difference we are making to our children.

“This coincides with the apprentice award, which shows the team’s commitment to learning whilst caring, with everyone but one member of the team, who is already qualified, on their apprenticeship journey.”
