A DELIVERY worker has been hauled before the courts after being caught stealing jewellery.

Leeanne Dicocco has admitted pilfering a package containing Pandora products worth more than £3,000.

The 36-year-old later appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court, where she was ordered to carry out community service.

On April 5, UPS was made aware by Pandora that it had not received a package due to be delivered, it was explained by Kassem Noureddine, prosecuting.

The package in question contained jewellery with a value of £3,200.

CCTV from the depot, on Lockheed Road, just north of the M62 near Burtonwood, was reviewed, and the defendant was observed taking her bag into the conveyor belt area.

Her role was to pick items for delivery in vans, with the package due to be in her van, and it was also heard that she sold the jewellery for £600.

She was subsequently charged with theft by employee, to which she pleaded guilty.

Dicocco, of Worsley Road in Eccles, was sentenced by magistrates to a 12-month community order.

During this period, she must also complete 12 rehabilitation activity requirement days and undertake 120 hours of unpaid community work.

No order for costs was given, with priority given to compensation of £600, while she was also told she must pay a surcharge of £114.

An application was made by her solicitor and approved by magistrates for the funds to be deducted from her benefits.
