A TEENAGER who brought a Rambo-style knife and drugs with him to a music festival at Sherdley Park has been sent to jail.

Eighteen-year-old Rhakeem Hamed appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Friday, September 27.

Hamed, of Arnold Crescent, Liverpool, had in a previous hearing on September 9, indicated guilty pleas to charges of possession of a knife, possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis.

On Saturday, September 7, the day of the Reminisce music festival, Hamed was found at Sherdley Park with a Rambo-style knife, an amount of cannabis and a quantity of cocaine on him.

District judge James Hatton sentenced the 18-year-old to custody for six months.

According to a court sheet, the sentence was passed because the offences were "so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified".

The reasons for custody included that this was Hamed's second conviction of possession of a blade and he was "found at (the) festival with knife and drugs".

Meanwhile, the judge also imposed a Serious Violence Reduction Order for two years.

This means Hamed will have to notify the police of his name, home address and any address at which he regularly resides.

The court document added that the order was passed due to the offence being Hamed's second with a knife and "previous convictions for violence", in addition to the circumstances of this offence with the "weapon taken into (the) festival with drugs".

The court also ordered for the defendant to be deprived of the knife.

A forfeiture and destruction order was passed for the cocaine and cannabis and no separate penalty was imposed for the drugs offences.
