St Helens' motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M62, from 9pm September 24 to 5am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 both directions seven to 8 - lane closure for barriers - permanent.

• A580, from 9pm September 23 to 6am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M62, from 9pm September 16 to 5am December 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 both directions J7 to J6 - lane closure for drainage.

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks: • M62, from 8pm September 30 to 7am October 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 both directions J7 to J8 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M62, from 9pm September 30 to 7am October 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 both directions J7 to J8 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M62, from 9pm October 7 to 7am October 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 both directions J7 to J8 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M58, from 9pm October 7 to 6am October 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• A580, from 9pm October 14 to 6am October 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M62, from 9pm October 14 to 7am October 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 westbound, junction 8 to 7 - lane closures and slip road closures for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
