Miller Homes has announced a £1.6 million investment into infrastructure, services, and community improvements in Rainford following two developments in the area.
After the Dial House Place and Rookery Place developments, the property developer has pledged to contribute more than £225,000 to the NHS to support healthcare services in the area, alongside a further £208,500 allocated for the enhancement of parks in Rainford and St Helens area.
In support of local education, £114,000 has been committed to secondary education initiatives in Rainford as well as £15,350 for travel plan monitoring.
A substantial sum will also be dedicated to increasing bus services over a five-year period, subject to approval by Merseytravel. In addition, each household will receive a one-month bus pass to encourage sustainable travel from the outset.
In line with its long-term sustainability goals, the development will retain and enhance existing trees and vegetation and introduce green corridors throughout the site.
Bird and bat boxes, hedgehog-friendly fencing, and sustainable urban drainage will all be key features of the development, alongside homes incorporating technologies such as photovoltaic panels, wastewater heat recovery, and flue gas heat recovery.
A significant portion of the homes will also be built to Future Homes Standards, with no gas boilers and the installation of air-source heat pumps or similar technologies.
Rookery Place will also deliver 30% affordable homes to meet the needs of a diverse range of residents, while providing two new children’s play areas to foster a family-friendly environment. Improvements to the local road infrastructure will include reducing the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph adjacent to the development and construction of 2m-wide footpaths along Higher Lane and Rookery Lane.
Dial House Wood will also benefit from the removal of invasive weeds and the installation of accessible informal paths and benches for the community to enjoy.
Stuart Craig, Managing Director of Miller Homes North West commented, “We are thrilled to be bringing two thoughtfully designed developments to St Helens. Dial House Place and Rookery Place will combine our dedication to sustainability and community enrichment, and we look forward to working closely with local stakeholders to bring these contributions to life as the project progresses.”
Miller Homes will be offering an exclusive first look of Rookery Place on Thursday, October 3 to those who have registered their interest.
