A FORMER St Helens schoolboy will perform on ITV talent show The Voice UK on Saturday night.

Matty Scott, who attended St Cuthberts secondary school in Parr, will be seen auditioning on the show which looks for star singing talent.

Sintelliners are being urged to get behind him and tune in for the show which features coaches LeAnn Rimes, McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, will.i.am and Tom Jones.

His former school described him as a "born entertainer".

Writing on Instagram, Matty said it was a moment he had dreamed about since he was the age of five and the fact it "has actually happened is blowing my mind!"

He added: "Please tune in and show your support on Saturday 28th September (next Saturday) on ITV + ITVX at 8.15pm and one more massive thankyou to everyone, thanks for being on this journey with me ❤️ Matty X"

In a post on social media, St Cuthberts wished their ex-pupil good luck: "Well done to one of our ex-students Matty Scott who will be appearing on The Voice next Saturday 28th of September!

"Anyone who knows Matty will know that he loves to sing and is a born entertainer. So let's get behind him and tune in!"

The winner of the Voice will be awarded a record deal with EMI, a £50,000 cash prize and a trip to Universal Studios Florida.

Filming for the new series took place in late February.

The new nine-part series of The Voice UK is currently airing on ITV1 and STV.
