Patients at Whiston Hospital are benefiting from new LED Skylights installed in the Maternity Theatres.

Several bright new ceiling skylights have been installed in an effort to provide a more calming environment made possible thanks to the support of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust’s own charity, MWL NHS Charity.

Victoria Burrows, Head of the MWL NHS Charity, said: “We were delighted to support the maternity team and their patients by funding this project, which has been made possible through the generous donations of our Charity supporters.

“We think they are a fabulous addition to the Maternity Theatres and hope they will provide a calming environment and improved experience for our patients.’’ Ria Agass, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Whiston Hospital, added: “Providing safe and quality care is always the team's priority, but this year they also wanted to focus on improving the experience of patients and their families and the installation of the skylights follows feedback from people they cared for as well as team member's own experience of being parents.

"Lots of our patients have had a long and emotive journey to get to the birth of their baby, so it makes a huge difference to be in a really calm and tranquil environment which is exactly what the skylights help provide".
