ST HELENS Council have cordoned off an area of Back Market Street in Earlestown after a potential sink hole appeared in the pavement.
On Thursday, September 19, the highways team of the council were informed of the sinkhole.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Our highways team was alerted to a possible sink hole on Back Market Street, Earlestown. Highway inspectors have been out to investigate and cordon off the area.
“We are currently working closely with United Utilities to determine the cause and are aiming to carry out a full inspection [this] week."
