AN application to install new signage at a railway station has been granted consent.
A bid seeking permission for four non-illuminated signs at St Helens Junction, in Sutton, was sent to council planners.
St Helens Junction station was opened in 1830 as part of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway and is one of the oldest passenger railway stations in the world.

In a report, planning officer Julie Hine said: "The proposal would be of a scale and type appropriate to their setting and function, and would not have an unacceptable detrimental impact upon local amenity.
"The proposed signs are of a scale and size consistent with their surroundings and intended function, whilst at the same time being sufficiently visible to enable them to perform their intended purpose.
"The information submitted within the application form states that there will be no illumination and will not cause a detrimental impact to the amenity of the surrounding occupiers."
Consent for the signage was granted.
