TWO men charged with firearms offences in connection with a shooting in St Helens have made a first court appearance.

Earlier in the summer a 49-year-old man was shot in the leg on Boxwood Gardens, Sutton Junction.

Emergency services attended the scene at about 10.30pm on Monday, July 22 this year after it was reported that a man in his 40s had been wounded and taken to hospital.

Merseyside Police said an extensive investigation has been carried out by the Firearms Investigation Team.

On Wednesday night Adam Wilson, 28, of Francis Street, Sutton, and David Bowen, 33, of Herbert Street, Sutton, were charged with with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life, attempted robbery and wounding with intent. 

Wilson was also charged with an additional offence of burglary.

Both men were remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 19.

During the hearing, the case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court.

Wilson and Bowen were remanded back into custody and are both next due to appear before the Crown Court on Thursday, October 17.
