Three-year-old ginger cat Shake is seeking a new home as his owners sadly couldn’t afford to keep him anymore.

When Shake came into the care of Cats Protection Merseyside Cat Centre in June he was on medication for stress and had a history of urinary problems.

While a urine test showed no current issues, he has remained on a special diet to help avoid any flare ups in the future.

The team also closely monitored his behaviour over time and were able to gradually wean him off the medication he was on for stress.

Although a little shy, Shake proved to be an affectionate boy who enjoys company. He would be best suited to a quieter home without children or other pets.

Rehoming and Welfare Assistant Robyn Dunn said: “Shake is such a sweet, gentle boy. He’s a firm favourite with the team here.

“He’s not that interested in toys but loves company and will chat away to anyone who comes to visit him.

“I think his special diet may be putting people off adopting him, but I really hope someone will look past that and see what a wonderful addition he will be to the right household.”

The expert care and attention Shake has been receiving is kindly supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who have raised over £9.9m for Cats Protection since 2018.

“We’re so grateful go People’s Postcode Lottery players for helping us look after cats in need like Shake,” added Robyn. “Together we’re making a better life for cats, because life is better with cats.”
