A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Residents of Billinge, there have been a number of reports of bogus callers in the area of the Avon Road Estate.
"If you are approached for work on your home such as jetwashing drives, cleaning gutters, please be vigilant and ensure you are dealing with legitimate companies.
"Officers have been paying extra attention to the area and will continue where possible."
Bogus callers can come in various guises but they are often unscrupulous tradespeople who use a variety of stories to gain access to your home in order to commit burglary or pressurise people into undertaking unnecessary 'urgent' repairs.
