HUNDREDS took to the streets as Willowbrook Hospice's annual Moonlight Walk returned to its traditional route.

The walk welcomed 250 supporters at The Living Well, on Borough Road, on Saturday (September 14) where the 6k walk commenced at 7.30pm.

Heart-warming stories were shared among supporters, who talked to one another about who they were walking for.

The Moonlight Walk offers a chance to remember loved ones, helps to contribute to a vital local cause, and encourages the local community to participate in an event that brings people together.

Supporters arrived wearing bright clothing, flashing head accessories, with faces adorned with glitter, proudly wearing t-shirts bearing photos and messages for those no longer with us.

The evening gave everyone the opportunity to take time for a few minutes of reflection, timed just perfectly as the sun started to set. The warm up was led by ladies from the NPH Fitness team with some energetic routines, ahead of the walkers setting off.

During the walk to the hospice and back to the Living Well, cars driving past tooted their horns in support to the crowds of people walking in unity. The Spar on Prescot Road handed out free chocolate bars along the route, which were much appreciated by recipients.

As the evening darkened and the stars started to shine, there was the sight of flashing lights from walkers' LED wands and head accessories bobbing along the route, as a tribute to their loved ones.

From little dogs to an 83-year-old volunteer for Willowbrook, the walk was inclusive to all.

Following the event Willowbrook said: "We cannot thank our incredible community enough, for raising over £12,000, to date.

"Enormous gratitude to Britannia Taxi’s for very generously sponsoring our event!

"This annual event is always one to put in the diaries, please keep your eyes peeled for news on our Early Bird offer for next year’s Moonlight Walk!"
