A ROAD was blocked both ways after emergency services were called to a collision involving one car during rush hour.

Police were called to Warrington Road, Rainhill shortly before 9am on Friday, September 13.

Merseyside Police told the Star they responded to a report of a "single vehicle collision involving a Honda Jazz".

Ambulance crews attended although no injuries have been reported, police added.

The incident, near to the Rocket pub, led to the road being closed both ways. It led to congestion on the route, which leads to the centre of Rainhill and Whiston Hospital.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area for more than an hour - however, the road has now reopened.
