AN EXCITING schedule of events are coming to the Citadel Theatre towards the end of the year.
Built in 1861, there has been a rich history of bands coming through the Citadel since it was converted into a music venue in the 1980s, including The Stone Roses, The La’s, The Verve, and Cast.
Although the venue has suffered financial hardships over the years and closed for a brief period in 2019, a partnership with a national concert promoter breathed new life into the historic venue last year.

Since the partnership with Liverpool-based Glasswerk was agreed last September, the Citadel has hosted several successful events such as 90s band Space, Ian Prowse, Starsailor frontman James Walsh, and Sunbirds (from the Beautiful South's Dave Hemingway).
The Citadel has also hosted a range of top tribute acts over the past year and has been one of the venues featuring at St Helens Music Festival.
In the coming weeks, the Citadel will host an evening with comedian Tommy Cannon, high-quality tribute band 'The Freddie & Queen Experience', comedian 'Dan Nightingale and Friends', as well as Peter Cox, former vocalist of pop duo Go West.
As we move into October, the Waterloo Street Theatre will host tribute bands such as 'The Smiths UTD', 'Led Into Zeppelin', and 'Definitely Oasis', as well as an acoustic performance with 90s band Sleeper, singer-songwriter Jon Gomm, and They Hayley Griffiths Band & IO Earth.
