A MAN is hosting a special event in memory of his much-loved brother-in-law following his funeral last week.
After being diagnosed with cancer last year, Keith Platts courageously battled with the disease while receiving treatment at Christie's cancer centre in Manchester.
The former was also treated by "fantastic" district nurses in his final days, and his family was given priceless support and guidance by Macmillan cancer teams until Keith passed away at home, aged 72, on Monday, August 12.

With Keith's funeral taking place on Wednesday, September 4, his brother-in-law James Holden said that the packed venue highlighted how loved and well respected the grandad-of-six was.
Describing his brother-in-law as a "gentle giant" who would "do anything or anyone", James said he has been wanting to do something special to celebrate Keith's life and thanks those who supported the family during his final days.
This is why James, a private chef and member of Berrington Hall golf club, has organised a Macmillan Golf and Coffee Morning event on Friday, September 27, to coincide with the cancer charity's national campaign.
James, from Rainford, said: "In Keith's final days, Macmillan were a very supportive organisation, and without their help, my sister and her very poorly husband would have suffered even more hardship alongside the pain Keith was in.
"Macmillan has 'the Big Coffee Morning' event each year and it felt particularly poignant for us this year due to what we have been through as a family.
"Keith was a gentle giant and an unbelievable guy who would do anything for anyone. I think his funeral showed how loved and well respected he was as it was packed, and he has left a massive hole in the family's life.
"I think the event will be a perfect opportunity to remember Keith's life and say thank you to those who helped to support our family."
Taking place at Berrington Hall golf club on Friday, September 27, the golf and coffee morning starts at £60 per person, and includes breakfast and afternoon tea as well as an 18 hole game of golf.
Businesses are also encouraged to sponsor a hole or donate raffle prizes to help raise as much money as possible for Macmillan.
