ST HELENS North MP David Baines has congratulated the Turks Head pub in the House of Commons, which is in the running for a national award.
The popular pub, on Cooper Street, recently progressed in the Pub of the Year competition, run by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), as it was crowned Merseyside and Cheshire Regional Champions, among the top 16 in the country.
Meanwhile, the Haydock Reading Room has also been named Merseyside and Cheshire Regional Champions for Club of the Year.
The venues had earlier been named as St Helens CAMRA’s Best Pub and Best Club, before progressing to the regional stages.
Mr Baines has given his congratulations to both venues and mentioned the matter in Parliament in a question to Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell.
