ST HELENS' newest town centre pub enjoyed a successful soft launch last weekend.

As reported by the Star, the Tipsy Tap opened on Ormskirk Street on Sunday, September 1, to coincide with the return of the St Helens Music Festival.

With work ongoing to transform the space of the former Cork and Dough and Secret Gin Garden in recent weeks, the soft launch allowed guests to have a first glance inside the Tipsy Tap, which aims to have a traditional pub feel with brick interiors and old photos of St Helens.

Finishing touches are being made to the pub this week, with the Tipsy Tap set to officially launch on Friday, September 6.

With several guests, including Saints centre Konrad Hurrell, enjoying the new town centre bar over the weekend, the Tipsy Tap team said they "had a blast" with the soft launch.

Ahead of the £90m regeneration plans set to benefit St Helens, Tipsy Tap bosses hope that the "quality" feel to the bar will complement other venues and offer an improvement to the town centre's social scene.

With the pub set to open this weekend, the Tipsy Tap will provide a large seating area and offer more than 20 draft options including lagers, bitters, ciders, craft ale, and Guinness.

There will also be a selection of wines, spirits, and cocktails, as well as coffees and hot drinks throughout the day.

The pub will also have a focus on live sports as it aims to become a regular spot where people can watch Saints or the big football games, with several screens showing Sky Sports.

Co-owner of the Tipsy Tap, Rebecca Peacock, who previously held the reins of the Secret Garden, said: "Having combined the space with what was once Cork & Dough, we have been able to offer a lot more seating, a much larger bar area, and completely change the customer experience.

"We can’t wait for people to come down and see what we have done with the space, and hopefully we have created somewhere exciting and new for customers to enjoy a drink."
