A BARBERSHOP has expressed its thanks to the people of St Helens as it celebrated its one-year anniversary since launching in the town centre.

Smile opened up at the prominent 'Globe' building on Ormskirk Street on September 2 last year, with the mission to offer its customers a “different experience”.

The building had previously been Two Brothers café, which closed in 2022, and before that Galloways Bakery.

The barbers is run by managers Sipan Ibrahim and Delshad Ali.

Sipan said after an initial settling-in period in the first three months the shop has seen business much “improved” since, with the shop often busy.

One thing he said that people appreciate is that they give customers an “experience”, including washing their hair, rather than just a quick haircut.

“The people like how we give them haircuts and wash their hair for free, we give them a nose wax for free, we offer them a lot of things,” said Sipan.

He said the offer of a free haircut after customers fill 10 stamps has also proved popular, with around 10 to 15 a week taking advantage of this, and added that Google reviews have also helped.

“After (the first) few months things have been very good and our business gets very busy, especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

“I’d like to say to the people in St Helens, thank you so much.

“When we asked them when we first opened to give us one go, they did it, they came and they try our experience.

“They like it because we give them an experience, the way we use the hair towel and we wash them. Thank you so much to the people in St Helens.

“Sometimes when a new business opens, people don’t try it but they did try it.”
