A MUCH-LOVED community cafe is set for an exciting new future as it gears up for a refresh and rebrand.

Launching at the bottom end of Westfield Street in 2019, Momo's has been a hugely popular venue thanks to its tasty food menu and welcoming atmosphere, but is perhaps most well-known for its activity schedule and hosting of various community groups.

Despite the difficulties the business has faced with the pandemic, cost of living crisis, and shop break-ins, this community focus is what has really struck a chord with people in St Helens, as Momo's has offered a safe space for neurodiverse groups, history clubs, mental health networks, catering experience, and many more.

After five years of running the cafe, co-owner Claire Rigby has announced she will be leaving the business to focus on her passion for history and heritage, and will be taking the 'Momo's' name as this was a reference to her grandmother.

However, while Claire is off to pastures new, she will still be a familiar face around the cafe as co-owner Colin Clemmit gears up to take it into a new and exciting future.

Emphasising that the business will remain open as a cafe and as a home to community groups, Colin says that the team will slowly refurbish the building and offer a wider selection of activities, depending on what customers want to see.

With Claire set to leave the business next week, the cafe will be temporarily known as 'Q Cafe CIC' until the new name and rebranding is officially unveiled in the next month or so.

“We have always been a community space at Momo’s and we want to assure everyone that nothing is going to change", Colin said.

“In the coming weeks, we will be focusing on the business rebrand, which will include a refresh to the cafe and our online presence.

"We have helped a lot of people over the years, which is the whole reason why I joined the business, so we are definitely going to continue with this.

"We are so grateful to Claire and all she has done at Momo's, and this has given us a great foundation to grow from."

While Colin is committed to hosting the activities and community groups that currently use Momo's space, he and the team are eager to hear feedback on what other things the business could offer.

Ahead of the official rebrand, the team has created an online survey for people to offer suggestions "to bring people along for the journey". This can be found here.

A competition has also been launched for people to take photographs of themselves, friends, or family members with the mystery 'Q' logo and win special prizes, which aims to drum up support for the new cafe and attract support from local businesses. Information on this can be found here.
