UNITED Utilities have issued a statement after residents reported their tap water tasting strangely.

Some residents in St Helens have taken to social media groups to say they have noticed a difference with their water.

United Utilities issued a statement on Tuesday to say they are aware of the issue.

They said that there have been "adjustments made to our treatment process" and that supplies should return to normal in the coming days.

United Utilities said the issue is affecting residents in Merseyside and Cheshire.
