POLICE have explained why they were called to a pub on Monday night.
Residents reported seeing officers in attendance at Junction Lane, in Sutton, in the area of the Junction Inn.
Some took to social media to express concern over the police presence and question what had happened.
But police have played down any alarm surrounding the incident.
A police spokeswoman today told the Star that officers had been called shortly before 11.30pm yesterday to a report that "a large group of people" were arguing in the pub’s beer garden.
No injuries were reported and no arrests were made, she added.
