Brickhouse Tavern to host talent contest and 'showcase great talent'

With the Brickhouse Tavern continuing where Bruno's Rodizio left off, the venue has been a hub of live music since rebranding earlier this year.

While also offering a wide food and drink menu at the Rigby Street venue, the Brickhouse also hosts a series of live music events at the weekend, which have ranged across various genres, such as rock, country, jazz and soul.

Aware of the talent that has been showcased on stage, the Brickhouse events team has organised a talent contest that is planned to take place from the end of the month until the end of the year.

With the competition aiming to shine a light on talented and unsigned musicians, the auditions begin at the Brickhouse on Wednesday, August 28.

Open to musicians, singers, and duos, the auditions are planned to take place once a month, with the semi final and final set for December.

Paul Taylor, one of the events managers at Brickhouse, said: "We put on a lot of shows at the Brickhouse and have seen some amazing talent on stage.

"But I've spoken to other people who haven't had the opportunity to get up on stage before, who have a real drive and love of music.

"That's why we thought we would put something on showcase the great talent that we know is here in St Helens, and hopefully the events can get some momentum towards the end of the year."

With the Brickhouse team hoping to attract some celebrity judges for the final stages of the competition, the talent show will award the winner with a prize of £600.

Backed by Barton's Brewery, the runner up will win £300 and third place will be gifted £100.
