A GIRL screamed ‘I’m only a child’ as she was hit in the face by a stranger who used her high heel as a weapon.

Jeorga Thompson attacked two ‘innocent passers-by’ while drunk following a Craig David concert which was held at Haydock Park Racecourse last year.

Thompson, who is now eight months pregnant, left both victims, a 15-year-old girl and a man, with serious injuries.

Appearing before Liverpool Crown Court, the 30-year-old was told how usually an immediately prison sentence would be handed to someone who committed two unprovoked attacks while drunk.

But Recorder Richard Leiper said that Thompson’s son and unborn child would suffer if she was jailed, so handed her a suspended a sentence.

Prosecuting, Chris Hopkins said the incident happened at around 11pm on June 24 last year and that the victim has since pleaded guilty to two offences of inflicting wounding,

It was heard that a bottle of water had been kicked towards a group Thompson was in and that the contents went on them.

Following this, Thompson, of May Sinclair Close, Wirral, approached her first victim, a man.

He was knocked to the ground and was unconscious after Thompson hit him with a blow, using her high heels.

The victim said how he saw the defendant wearing flip flops and that she had high heels in her hand, but he doesn’t remember much else prior to the assault.

The man was taken to Bolton Hospital where his ‘nasty wound’ was stitched.

After this attack, Thompson approached her next victim, a 15-year-old girl, who was at the concert with her boyfriend and his family.

The girl was helping her boyfriend’s mum to change her shoes when Thompson said ‘why are you getting involved’.

Mr Hopkins told Liverpool Crown Court how the girl said ‘I am only a child, I am only 15’, but the defendant ‘struck her with her fist’.

Again, the victim said ‘I am only a child’, but Thompson hit her again, this time with her high heel.

Witnesses said how they saw the girl ‘doubled over in pain’ and ‘holding her head’.

She suffered a ‘deep laceration’ to her eyebrow.

It was heard how prior to this second attack, the girl’s boyfriend’s mum had ‘understandably tried to intervene’, but Thompson grabbed her and said ‘do you want it next’.

Mr Hopkins read out a victim impact statement to the court form the girl in which she said: “Every day I look in the mirror and I see my face and I think, why me?”

The girl, who has been left with a ‘permanent scar’ and whose face profile has changed following surgery, said how she is now scared to leave the house because that is where she feels safe.

She said she was ‘so excited to see her favourite DJ’ that evening and that she cannot believe she was attacked by an adult woman.

Defending, John Weate said how her client said she felt ‘intimated’ after the male victim walked towards her – although it was heard how he did ‘nothing wrong’.

He also said that Thompson has ADHD and had not taken her medication at the time of the incident.

Mr Weate read a letter out to the court written by Thompson in which she said she is ‘deeply ashamed’ and ‘so upset’ about what both victims went through.

She said: “Since it has happened, I have been taking steps to ensure that this never happens again.

“It has been one of the hardest lessons of my life.

“I have truly punished myself over and over again.

“This really was an isolated incident. I've not done anything like this before.

“These actions do not represent the person I am. I live a normal, quiet family life.

“It is soul destroying to know at some point my children will know what happened.

“It is shameful, and it is not the picture I want them to have of their mother.

“I am determined it will never happen again.”

Concluding, Judge Leiper said: “It was a wholly unjustified attack.

“It was one compounded by the fact that having seriously injured one person, you did precisely the same thing again and this time to a 15 year old female.”

Thompson was handed a 45-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

From November, following the birth of her child, she will also be subjected to an electronically-monitored curfew for three months.
