A FAMILY gym has expanded its fitness programme after becoming a Community Interest Company earlier this year.

Launched along Warrington Road by Gary and Lisa Crickson, Forge Fitness has organised numerous charity fundraisers to support the community in St Helens.

This has included Christmas workouts for local hospices, charity fitness challenges such as the recent Warrior Games, and Easter Egg collections.

Becoming a Community Interest Company in May, Forge has expanded its offering with a new youth fitness programme, which is free throughout the summer holidays.

Aiming the programme towards children from ages 10 to 12, the sessions will be particularly aimed towards helping young people who may be facing adversity, hardship, bullying, social challenges or neurodiversity.

Teaming up with A & B Engineering, the gym has been able to run its new programme thanks to financial support from the engineering firm and its social corporate responsibility.

The Liverpool-based firm has also been involved with several local and regional projects to enhance community amenities, facilities and infrastructure, while also putting social value back into the communities where their commercial projects  serve.

Directors of Forge Fitness NW CIC, Gary and Lisa Crickson said: "We are delighted to have been introduced to Executives at A&B Engineering and after hearing about our youth programme, and understanding our vision, we are excited to announce that a decision was made to support our future programme of youth development.”

Gary added: “We are very grateful to receive support from A & B Engineering as we have wanted to expand our current programme of youth fitness, activities and enrichment for some time so that we can reach more young people.

"The timing is perfect as we can now run two additional sessions per week throughout the summer holiday period and into September!”

Sessions will take place at Forge Fitness NW CIC, 456 Warrington Road, Rainhill, Merseyside, L35 9JE, with the first week starting on Monday, August 12 and  Wednesday, August 14 at 5pm.
