A COURT case was adjourned for police to make a decision on whether to request a destruction order for a dog that was dangerously out of control at a park.

Defendant Mark Litherland, 52, appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Friday, August 2 before district judge Timothy Boswell.

Litherland, of Queensland Avenue, Thatto Heath, pleaded guilty to being the owner or person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control.

The animal was a black and tan Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which was dangerously out of control in Ravenhead Greenway Country Park on Friday, May 24, this year.

Court records state that the case was adjourned at the request of the prosecution to allow police further time to contact the owner of the dog and make a decision in relation to any request for a destruction order.

Litherland was remanded on unconditional bail and is due to appear back at the magistrates' court for sentencing on Friday, August 30.
