Ten beauty salons and technicians made the shortlist for the latest Best of 2024 award and Harriet Harmon Studios has taken this year’s coveted crown officially giving the town’s best glow up.

Harriet Harmon Studios, formerly Harriet Harmon Makeup, is based at Harriet’s home studio in Eccleston.

The business was launched in 2018 with Harriet starting makeup in 2016 working in salons, a home studio at her parents’ house to a new location at her own home studio.

Harriet, who is 26, said: “I am the owner and manager – everything really.

“I am a one-woman band!

“I am a makeup artist specialising in softer looks and bridal.

“I am also a permanent makeup artist, which I added to my CV in 2022.

“I also offer professional skincare, eyebrow services such as tinting, shaping, laminating, henna, as well as lash lifts.

“Aside from the beauty side of things, I am a safe space and safe person to many women and young people who are able to be their true selves in my company.

“The vision for my brand was always to cultivate an environment where people are safe and feel heard.

“Equality is hugely important to me.

“My services are aimed at all, regardless of race, background or gender.

“I actually owe this to a friend from school, who asked me to do his little sister’s prom makeup.

“I did some research, got my insurance and went from there in 2016.

“Eight years later and here we are!”

Harriet is a self-taught makeup artist gaining her qualifications and becoming a guild accredited artist in 2018.

Next, she qualified in professional skincare as well as all things brows in 2019 and in 2022, after much persuasion from her clients, she became accredited in permanent makeup including microblading, eyebrow tattooing, lip blush and lip liner tattooing.

Harriet, who grew up in Windle next to Victoria Park and now lives in Eccleston next to Taylor Park, said: “I bring a wealth of experience from weddings and fitness shoots to festivals and parties.

“I specialise in bridal looks yet my work ethic, teamed with eight years in the game, has afforded me great credibility.

“I am a versatile artist and can adapt to most styles and occasions.

“I love making other people feel amazing.

“There is no better feeling than that.

“I was recently asked by a client what the best thing is about my job and I said work doesn’t feel like work.

“I work from home, and prior to doing this, I did question whether I would be able to separate work and life.

“But the truth is, I don’t really need to.

“When you love making people feel good, there’s just no getting away from it.

“It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”

What do customers and clients think of Harriet Harmin Studios? Why did they want Harriet to win our latest Best of 2024 award?

One happy customer said: “Every treatment Harriet does is done to perfection.

“Very professional and she is lovely - so friendly.

“Highly recommended.”

Harriet said: “There is a huge choice when deciding on an artist or beautician but I would argue that your connection and your relationship with that person is more important.

“I wanted my clients to feel valued, loved and listened to and this has always been at the forefront of my mind.

“It has allowed me to create a fabulous relationship with each person who walks through the door.

“Come as you are - pyjamas, comfies, whatever you like.

“You could literally wear a bin bag - who cares?

“Be yourself and get comfortable!”

She said: “I’m really proud of not only myself but also my clientele.

“There would be no win without them and there would be no Harriet Harmon Studios without them.

“They really are the bread and butter of the business.

“I am in awe of each of my clients for their trust, love, support and kindness over the past eight years.

“I am blown away and I love you all very much.”
