THE return of the ever-popular Newton Town Show takes place today, with an extra special music festival planned in the evening.

Each year, the Newton and Earlestown Community Group organise the Newton Town Show, which has become an increasingly popular attraction over the years.

This year's free event takes place in Mesnes Park on Saturday, August 3 between 10am and 5pm.

The return of the Newton Music Festival will follow the Town Show, which is a ticketed event.

Ran entirely by volunteers, the team behind Newton Town Show have prided themselves on providing something for all ages and bringing the community together.

This year's event will again have a host of attractions for kids to get involved in, including a funfair, bouncy castle, and inflatables.

There will also be a selection of classic cars on show, as well as a military cavalry, military reenactment groups, an RAF flyover, and an artillery display.

In addition to this, there will also be live entertainment from musicians and brass bands, while a variety of stall holders and food and drink vendors will also support the event.

Free buses have been organised with Mancbuses to transfer people to the Town Show, with stops at Crow Lane East, Earlestown station, and Bradlegh Road.

While the event is free to enter, any money raised will be directed back to the Newton and Earlestown Community Group.

Following the growing success of the Town Show, organisers have decided to launch Newton Music Festival, which will follow the show in the evening.

The event will be the first music festival organised in Newton for more than 20 years, and will run from 5pm to 10.30pm in Mesnes Park.

The chart-topping Lottery Winners will also play at the festival, as well as The Rolling People, Meduulla, Asian Blonde, and Malarky.

The event is ticketed with wristbands available for collection throughout the day at the Town Show, which can be used for a fast-track entry when the festival gates open. Re-entry for the festival is not permitted.

The festival is a card only site, and will only allow guests from ages 11+.

Parking and disabled parking can be prebooked here under the 'travel' tab, while further parking spaces will be available at Newton-le-Willows station and St Peters Church.

Camping equipment, flags, glass, aerosols, blades, drugs, alcohol, large bags, airhorns, laser pens, and drones are not permitted and will be confiscated.

Small bags are permitted but will be searched upon entry.
