A TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court for the first time this afternoon charged with the murder of Rikki Berry.

At around 6.35pm on Wednesday, July 17, 36-year-old Mr Berry is reported to have been shot and killed Quarryside Drive, in Kirkby.

Adam Williams was brought before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court for a brief hearing accused of murdering 36-year-old Mr Berry.

After charging him, police had given Williams' address as of Bigdale Drive, Kirkby.

However, appearing in court, he entered an address of Hamblett Crescent, St Helens.

Williams, who spoke only to confirm his identity, was sent by the bench to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday before Judge Andrew Menary, KC, the Recorder of Liverpool.

The defendant, of Hamblett Crescent, Haresfinch, who has short dark hair and was wearing a grey prison tracksuit, was further remanded in custody after no bail application was made by his lawyer Joe Eli.

Detectives had arrested three people in Oswestry in Shropshire on Wednesday and a 24-year-old man, of no fixed address, and a 21-year-old woman from Kirkby, have both been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police had previously arrested six people as part of their investigation, including a 20-year-old man and 26-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

A 19-year-old woman, 15-year-old boy, a 22-year-old man, and a 50-year-old woman, all from Prescot, were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
