A WOMAN who left her market stall due to declining footfall has launched a new business in Parr.

Opening '1 Hour Stitch' inside St Mary's Market back in 2013, Christine Sheeran had gained a popular reputation for her sewing repairs and stitching alterations.

Previously telling the Star that the stall was struggling with low footfall, Christine took the difficult decision to leave the town centre stall last October.

Continuing to work on sewing repairs from home, Christine eventually found the perfect place to start a fresh, and launched her new business 'Christine's Alternations' along Broad Oak Road on Saturday, July 20.

Christine, who had also been working in a care home since the closure of '1 Hour Stitch', said: "I started getting busier with sewing from home, as some of the customers and regulars from the market stall carried on using me.

"So I was looking for a new shop for ages and had been trying to contact the landlord here, as this shop was left derelict, is right on the main road, and is two minutes away from my house.

"It's very convenient for me and everyone has been very supportive so far - I was surprised at how many people came out to the opening day!".

Currently busy with prom dress alternations, Christine has altered countless clothing and household items over the past decade, and prides herself on returning the items to an improved and high standard.

Grateful for the customers who have continued to support her, Christine has high hopes for her new business and hopes it will still be going strong in another ten years.
