Drivers in and around St Helens will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A580, from 9pm July 15 to 6am July 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 North and southbound, junction 21A - 26 lane closures and carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M62, from 8pm July 13 to 5am July 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 both directions seven to 6 - lane closure for barriers - permanent.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M62, from 8pm August 5 to 6am September 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound and westbound, junction 7 to 8 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• A580, from 9pm August 5 to 6am August 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, J21a to J26 - Lane closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade on behalf of Costain.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
