FIREFIGHTERS were called after a house was in flames after a blaze broke out from a bedroom.

Emergency services rushed to Kingsway, Prescot on Monday evening, July 22, shortly after 6.30pm.

Crews arrived to find the two-storey property ablaze, with the fire in a first floor bedroom.

Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

One occupant suffered from slight smoke inhalation, who firefighters handed over to paramedics to be checked over.

A neighbouring house was also evacuated by crews as they tackled the fire.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "MFRS attended an incident at Kingsway, Prescot, on the evening of July 22.

"Crews were alerted at 6.34pm and on scene at 6.42pm. Four fire engines attended alongside North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and Merseyside Police.

"Crews arrived to find a two-storey house with a fire in the first floor bedroom. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the fire using two hose reel jets. Upon liaising with the property owner, it was confirmed that all persons were accounted for.

"One occupant suffering from slight smoke inhalation was handed over to NWAS to be checked over."

She added: "Utilities were isolated and the adjacent property was evacuated. By 7.06pm the fire was extinguished and crews continued to dampen down while checking the roof space for any fire spread.

"Crews remained on scene to ventilate the property and conduct a home fire safety check.

"The incident was handed over to Merseyside Police and crews left the scene at 8.02pm."

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said when asked that it had been confirmed by MFRS that the fire was "accidental".
